Without it being much of a surprise, EG will now be representing the USA at the upcoming WCG Counter-Strike Grand Final in Los Angeles.
EG looked forward to the final as they awaited their rival from the consolidation match-up, which also meant that they needed only one map to take the spot in their own back-yard. And so they did, without wasting too much time, after a clear cut 16-7 win on dust2, in front of POV.wp.
Evil Geniuses turned on the heat as Counter-Terrorists, bagging pistol round as well as the following one, denying success to POV's early buy. A full-on ace from Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert in round three was even more of a strong statement of the eagerness to close the match early.
It was finally Jeff "hero" Mettetal, who broke the jinx for his team, bagging their first round at 5-0 down, after a double-kill.
EG then continued marching at the lead of the match, up until hitting ten rounds up, when POV managed to squeeze in a number of points. This meant that the half-time scoreline saw EG in a comforting 10-5 lead.
Kicking-off as Counter-Terrorist, POV.wp wondered off in an aggressive style, with three players advancing on long A; unfortunately, EG surprised them on the other side of the map, in bombsite B, wiping the slate clean. POV.wp then only managed to sporadically claim two more rounds, before EG closed the overall situation.
Broken tag
This means that EG will be representing the USA at the upcoming WCG Counter-Strike Grand Final, on home turf, towards the end of September.
